What is a Juice Diet?

When I talk about a juice diet here, I will be referring to the lemon juice detox diet which lasts for a total of 10 days.

There is a 2–3 day pre-diet to help your body gently ease into the 10 days, and then another 2-3 days after the diet to assist your body to ease out before resuming solid foods again.

A juice diet is a diet that include only drinking freshly squeezed lemon and purified water.

You can do a simple cleansing fast that lasts for 24 hours, or up to 3 days.

The body will gain some excellent benefits, of course, as with any fasting, but the diet I’ll discuss here is the 10-day lemon juice diet which goes into a deeper detox of the body, cleansing it and pushing out embedded toxins.

Ingredients for Lemon Juice Diet

The ingredients are simple, not difficult to locate, and quite affordable:

Lemon juice drink:

  • Water (must be distilled, purified or spring) 6 – 12) 8 ounce glasses a day
  • Lemon or Lime squeezed for juice [organic best, but if not clean zest well] 2 tablespoons per glass
  • Organic Grade B Maple Syrup – 2 tablespoons per glass 9 (about 35USD)
  • Cayenne Pepper 1/10 teaspoon per glass

Salt water flush:

  • Distilled, purified or spring water  – 1 litre in the morning mixed with:
  • Non-Iodized Sea Salt  – 2 teaspoons or approx. 1 tablespoon


  • Laxative Tea – as an evening drink
  • Peppermint Tea – permitted throughout the day
  • And as much water as you like and need throughout the day

The Lemon Juice Diet Detox in a Nutshell

This 10 day diet will actually take about 14-16 days overall as it encompasses three separate phases.

I’ll give you a brief overview of what to expect.

Ease in:

The ease in will take about 2 or 3 days, with the first day being to exclude all processed foods from your diet and only include live foods.

That means no meat, dairy, processed foods and only raw vegetables and fruits.

On the second day you will only drink freshly juiced fruit and vegetable juices, whether you blend them into smoothies, juice, or make soup and broth.

On day three you will only drink freshly squeezed orange juice, about 2 litres of pure orange juice with purified water added for diluting.

10 day lemon juice diet:

Throughout your 10 day fast/detox you will be drinking about 6 to 12 glasses of freshly squeezed lemon juice mixed with water.

To make this drink you will add about 2 tablespoons of pure organic Grade B maple syrup (for energy) and about a tenth of a teaspoon of cayenne pepper.

You begin each morning by drinking a litre of salt water (1 litre of purified water to 2 teaspoons of sea salt).

This mixture goes right through you body and pushes the matter out of your colon, beginning the detoxifying and cleansing process.

Throughout the day you can drink plenty of water, organic herbal peppermint tea, and at night a soothing laxative tea.

Ease out:

The easing out period will last another 3 days, and you simply reverse the ease-in process.

Day 1 you drink an orange juice mixture;

Day 2 you drink fruit and vegetable juices, soups or broths;

Day 3 you eat only fresh vegetables and fruits.
