- 1 large chopped onion
- 1 cup washed and filtered green lentils
- 2 cups of rice
- black pepper
- 3 cups of boiling water
In a saucepan with a little oil, fry the onion until golden brown. Add a glass of boiling water and bring to a boil. Add the well-washed lentils and cook over medium heat for about half an hour. (In case we didn’t soak the lentils earlier) When the lentils are almost soft, add the rice and stir. Add the spices and 2 cups of boiling water and cover. On low heat for about 20 minutes.
It is advisable not to open the pot during cooking. After 20 minutes, remove the pot from the fire and set aside for another 10 minutes.
