Why is it so important to drink water?

One thing you might have heard quite a lot about is how important it is to drink water, not only to stay healthy but also to lose weight.

But is this really the case.

Does drinking water help you lose weight?

In this post I will share with you exactly how water can help you lose weight.

I will also tell you how much water you need to drink as well as give you some tips on making your water taste nice.

1-The importance of water for your body

Our body is made up of about 75% water.

So naturally it’s important that we drink a lot of water.

Water actually helps with blood circulation, digestion and absorption of food.

It also helps transfer toxins out of your body.

When you are losing weight your body will release stored toxins from your fat cells, and it’s then really important to drink water so that the toxins can leave your body.

But I still haven’t really answered the question “does drinking water help you lose weight?” And the answer is yes.

I will share with you 2 good reasons why it does.

1. It helps you feel full – When you are thirsty your brain will send signals to your stomach to let you know what’s going on.

Sometimes you might feel these signals as hunger and you eat when you don’t really need to.

If you have a glass of water at your desk and drink often, you will feel more full and naturally will eat less.

2. It helps you lose water weight. – You see, when you are dehydrated your body tries to protect you by storing water which causes weight gain.

When you drink water and become hydrated again it can release that water and you lose weight, even though it’s not fat you are losing.

Remember drinking coffee, sodas and juices doesn’t count.

It has to be pure water, but there are some things you can do to make your water taste more interesting.

  • Add lemon juice – I do this a lot. Lemon juice is also very healthy
  • Drink herbal teas – I love herbals teas and they have health benefits of their own. Try some chamomile to relax.
  • Drink carbonated water.

2-How much water should you drink?

Something you can do is to take your body weight in pounds and divide in by two.

That will show you the number of ounces you need to drink.

So if you weight 200 pounds you need to drink 100 oz water a day.

This is a minimum.

And of course if you’re exercising or it’s a really hot day you will need more water.

3-Does drinking water help you lose weight?

Yes. Water is really important in your quest to lose weight.

Water helps with so many things in your body and drinking more water will help you feel better, be healthier and also lose weight.

When you are on a diet you can really help your body along by drinking enough water.
